Recognized for its commitment to being socially responsible, Tessi, along with five other French companies, was chosen to represent the members of the Global Compact France during the United Nations General Assembly from Monday 23 September. Launched in 2000 by the United Nations, the Global Compact is an initiative aiming to encourage companies around the world to incorporate respect of people and the planet in their behaviour and ways of working.
In September 2015, 193 United Nations member states adopted the 2030 Agenda, a universal programme for sustainable development. It sets out 17 sustainable development goals to tackle issues related to climate change, biodiversity, gender equality and economic prosperity and foster world solidarity. During the United Nations General Assembly, the Global Compact asked ambassador companies to represent its members in New York for this week of international action for sustainable development. For a week, the delegations will meet to discuss specific themes, bringing their individual perspectives on how these ambitions can be integrated into company strategies, taking into consideration national legislation.
Tessi has been a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact since 2011 and has pledged to respect the 10 principles related to human rights, fair business practices, the environment and the fight against corruption. Tessi was acknowledged for its commitment in December 2018 when it became an ambassador for the Global Compact France, leading to it being chosen to speak in New York on behalf of France and French companies.
« Representing the French delegation of the Global Compact at the United Nations General Assembly is great recognition for all Tessi’s work in the area of social and environmental responsibility. We are delighted by the desire of companies around the world to act, which inspires us to do even more for our planet’s future » explained Frédérique Duffaud, Group CSR Manager.
